Trimet Meader Building

Owner: TriMet Capital Improvements Division

Architect: Allen Webb Architects

This project included the construction and demolition of the Meader Building on live Max tracks. COLAS' crews safely completed all construction without any reportable injuries. COLAS worked with the project team to reduce project costs by reusing a restored storefront window system. Construction occurred in downtown Portland in an area where foot traffic was extremely high. COLAS developed a project specific safety plan that ensured the safety of all the patrons in the area.

The Meader Building consisted of the demolition and reconstruction of the existing building in order to accommodate the track for the new Max Green Line. Once sections of the building were demolished, COLAS restored the interior and exterior of the 10,000 square foot building to its original condition. During construction, sections of the building were occupied by TriMet staff. The COLAS' team administered a comprehensive safety plan to insure the safety of all the surrounding buildings occupants. All Colas' field staff and sub-contractors had to attend TriMet's Track Access safety protocol course because of its close proximity to the Max Tracks. This project was completed on time and on budget.
